Penn Yan United Methodist Church believes in ministering to all facets of its congregation including specialty classes with in-depth study of the Bible or a book, prayer groups, and occasionally art and American Sign Language. The list below has some groups offered here and at other churches and locations in the area.
We are pleased to introduce several options for Adult Sunday School this Fall. Also beginning on Sunday, September 17, from 10:00am – 10:45am there will be several adult Sunday School options. Exploring the Bible: Facilitated by Ann Hicks, this book-by-book study starts with the New Testament book of Acts. Each week takes participants deeper into the Scripture, revealing context essential to understanding the text’s original intent and promoting transformation through God’s Word in everyday life. We will meet in classroom 2 in the church building, next to Peek Chapel.

Co-leaders are Linda Snyder and Sandy Harris; this group, formerly known as the BIG Small Group, has been meeting for years and, though already a large group, is open to all. Fellowship Hall, PYUMC; this small group started many years ago as a class for young couples to gather and share. Started in the 1950s by Ellroy D. VanDyke, one of our former pastors, the group has kept an acronym of his name as their own. This group meets once a month on the 2nd Wednesday to share a meal and features a program. All church members are encouraged to attend.

Thought about trying guided relaxation or meditation? Need a dedicated time to slow your life down so you can connect with God?
