Celebrate Recovery

(CR) is a life-changing mission offered for people here in Yates County on Monday evenings from 6:00 – 9:00pm here at PYUMC with a meal, fellowship and large and small group time. CR is for people struggling with all kinds of bad habits, hurts or hang-ups.

Community Cafe

A free meal open to the community held here at PYUMC on the last Tuesday of every month from 5:30 – 7:00pm.

Grandma’s Kitchen

From January through March, PYUMC and other churches in the community provide and serve a healthy, light meal to students at the Penn Yan Academy who participate in after-school activities. These meals are provided every Tuesday and Thursday when school is in session.

The Living Well

A ministry of the United Methodist Churches of Yates County and supported by the Penn Yan Area Council of Churches, offers a safe, welcoming, respectful space and staff dedicated to helping individuals with their immediate needs and resources such as; Food, Dry Goods, Utility Assistance, Vouchers for Emergency Needs, and Referral Services.

New Hope Cancer Care

A new mission of the Living Well to help people of Yates County who are diagnosed with cancer, and their loves ones.

Yates County Christmas Program

This program assists needy families by providing clothing, food, gifts and gift certificates to give their children gifts on Christmas morning. Many disabled and elderly people who are unable to travel also receive baskets of food and hand-made lap quilts.

Keuka Food Pantry

The Penn Yan Area Council of Churches sponsors our local food pantry. We gather and distribute items on a monthly basis.

 Gleaning

In the Fall, a group of volunteers under the leadership of the PYUMC men’s group, glean the produce left in the fields after harvest for donation to the Keuka Food Pantry.

Thanksgiving Baskets

Offers many Yates County families a Thanksgiving dinner who otherwise might not be able to have one.

Mission Trips

Groups from our church have traveled to Alaska, Red Bird Mission in Kentucky, cleaned up flooding in Binghamton, NY, Costa Rica, and New Orleans. Trips in 2017 are to return to Red Bird Mission and to serve in Baton Rouge, LA.

 Red Bird Mission

A United Methodist mission in the Appalachian Mountain region of Kentucky. We have sent teams of volunteers in mission every spring for the last several years.

 Habitat for Humanity

As a church congregation we give support with volunteers and members who serve on the board. We also host a joint worship service and special offering every August with all other area United Methodist churches as a fundraiser.

Inside and Out

A jail ministry to support inmates while incarcerated and to help them change their lives for good once they have been released.

Local Chaplains

Through the Penn Yan Area Council of Churches, part-time chaplains are supported both at the local nursing homes and at the county jail.

 Pill Bottles

We collect empty pill bottles to be shipped to overseas mission locations so that pharmacies can dispense medications to their patients.

Ciudad Quesada

Our sister church in Costa Rica. We support them with offerings and by sending mission teams. This year we supported a mission team from Keuka College to go and build a home.

Nome Community United Methodist Church

Our sister church in Nome, Alaska. They rely on mission support to carry out their ministry. In September of each year we hold an auction to help raise support funding. The knitters also make baby blankets, sweaters and hats for them to give away to newborns at the Nome hospital.
